About

Small, considered, built to last.

Bannermedia operates two arms: a publishing operation centred on Lowdown and a software arm building civic and engineering products. We deliberately stay small, run on European sovereign infrastructure, and invest in things designed to outlast us.

Our story

Bannermedia was incorporated in 2021 as the trading vehicle for a body of long-running engineering and editorial work. The company today operates a publishing arm centred on Lowdown (an independent intelligence briefing service), and a software arm building civic and engineering products under our own brand.

We are small by design. We invest in products built to operate for a decade or more on infrastructure we can fully audit, and we move quickly because we have to: independent publishing and sovereignty-aware software both reward focus over scale.

Principles
  1. European sovereign infrastructure.

We operate high-availability dedicated infrastructure with multiple providers across Europe: the UK, France, Germany, and Finland. Storage, edge cache, DNS, identity, and email all held with European operators. Our supply chain is auditable and not exposed to extraterritorial US data law.

  2. Owned products, long horizons.

We invest in things we expect to operate for a decade or more. We avoid platforms that trade founder leverage for distribution.

  3. AI-fluent by default.

AI tooling is part of our daily work across product, infrastructure, editorial, and code. We pay attention to provenance and licensing. The judgment about what ships stays with humans.
